Dr Jinlong Ma is Vice President of APEC Sustainable Energy Centre (APSEC), and he is a Professor at Tianjin University, China.


Prof Jinlong Ma has extensive experience in energy and electricity sector, and at different stage of his career held senior managerial and technical position at international technical advisory and engineering firms (DNV GL, WSP, SMEC), global energy corporation (ENGIE), R&D and academic institutions (CEPRI, AIT). His expertise encompasses energy system planning, renewables, power sector development, energy management and energy efficiency, electricity market, sustainable development, climate changes, and energy transition solutions. One of the main research themes currently at APSEC, of which Prof Ma leads, is energy transition solutions in APEC member economies. He has first-hand experience in most Asia and Pacific countries’ energy sector, having advised national and local government authorities, financial and private sectors, and regional and international organisations such as EU, AFO, ADB and ACE.

Jinlong’s qualifications include PhD in energy economics from Melbourne University; M. Eng. in energy planning and technology from Asian Institute of Technology; and B.Eng. Electric from North China University of Electric Power. He is a member of Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE), and fellow of Australian Institute of Energy (AIE).
