Benoît RevazBenoît Revaz

State Secretary, Director of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy

Benoît Revaz was appointed as Director of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, which is part of the Federal Department (Ministry) of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications, in October 2016. In this position, he is responsible for the preparation and implementation of Switzerland’s energy policy. Key current focus areas are electricity market design, security of electricity supply, energy efficiency policies and programs, an overhaul of climate legislation to enable Switzerland to meet its commitment under the Paris Agreement and regulation related to nuclear phase-out and siting of nuclear waste disposal. Director Revaz represents Switzerland on the Governing Board of the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).


Prior to his current post, Mr. Revaz held various positions at Swiss utilities, i.e. Secretary General at EEF (now Groupe e, Fribourg; 1999-2004), Head of Management Services at EOS Holding (Lausanne; 2004-2008), successively Head of Business Development and Head of Management Services for Alpiq Holding (Lausanne; 2009-2013) and Senior Advisor at E-CUBE Strategy Consultants (2014-2016).

Benoît Revaz holds a Master of Law (Fribourg, Switzerland) as well as an Executive Master in Communications Management (Lugano, Switzerland). He also participated in the Stanford Executive Program (Stanford 2012).
