NEWLY APPOINTED UK MINISTER OF STATE JOINS DAVOS ENERGY WEEK

January 14, 2021

Davos, Switzerland, 17.00 CET. Anne-Marie Trevelyan, appointed as Minister of State — Minister for Business, Energy and Clean Growth of the UK, will have a live interview at Davos Energy Week on January 20, 12:15 PM CET. The Right Honourable Anne-Marie Trevelyan will replace The Right Honourable Kwasi Kwarteng, who was previously in her role until his recent appointment as Secretary of State.

Among Trevelyan’s responsibilities are carbon budgets, green finance energy, efficiency and heat, low carbon generation, energy retail markets, international and EU energy, and others. Previously, Anne-Marie was the Secretary of State for International Development of the UK. With her appointment taking place on January 8, 2021, this will be one of the first public presentations in her capacity as the Minister. Trevelyan’s keynote will mainly focus on the UK’s Action Plan for 2021 to advance its Green Industrial Revolution in the energy sector, announced in October 2020 by the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The Ten-Point Plan for the Green Industrial Revolution outlines the government’s approach to “build back better” with a goal to propel the UK’s way to net-zero and become a leader in the renewable energy sector. The plan will mobilize £12 billion of government investment towards reducing emissions and supporting up to 250,000 green jobs.
