DAVOS ENERGY WEEK ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE STARTUP PITCH COMPETITION
Davos, Switzerland, 16.30 CET. Davos Energy Week organizers announced the winners of the Startup Pitch Competition that was part of the agenda of the three-day online conference dedicated to revealing major energy transition business opportunities in 2021.
The announced winners in four categories were:
- eleXsys (Renewable Energy),
- Urban Electric Power (Decarbonization)
- Blink (Digitalization)
- Solshare (Energy Efficiency).
Professional jury evaluated participating startups based on the following criteria: product, market validation, business model, team, achievements, and pitch presentation. Overall, ten jurors took part in the evaluation, representing Microsoft for Startups, EDP, The Next Web, Startupbootcamp, Indico Capital, Combinado, EnergySpin, Renewables in Africa. and ngeco.
Pieter Paul van Oerle from The Next Web highlighted the diversity of solutions and ideas of participating startups: “Really inspired by the innovations. I think we need all of them to make it a futureproof energy system”.
Andrew Macadam from Microsoft for Startups commented, that “It takes a lot of courage for startups to come on and put themselves out there. They don’t know what questions, we don’t know what questions we're gonna ask, so they certainly don’t. So, to be able to answer them on the fly and engage with us I think it’s fantastic”.
The Davos Energy Week Startup Pitch Competition is a worldwide online startup event aimed at providing a platform for startups in the energy sector to pitch their ideas to a global audience. Startups have a chance to present their ideas to the representatives of leading energy VCs and tech gurus. The first edition of the event took place on January 19-21, 2021.
